God’s Manual vs. Classroom Initiative

Do you feel like every faculty meeting or PD session ends in another new initiative you’ve just got to implement? Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”

STANDS FOREVER. Isn’t that some good news?! You can be sure that there is going to be a curriculum initiate change of some sort almost every year. The newest, coolest way to do the same task. It’s sure to be more effective, right?

In your classroom, you need to keep in mind that God’s curriculum NEVER CHANGES. So, what can you do as new things role out?

  • Keep in mind that your life manual is the Bible.

  • Get back to the basics and open up that Bible.

  • When you’re exasperated with a new initiative, remember what works in your experience. If necessary, keep the data on the old way and the new way, so you can show you have backed up your method.

  • You know your kiddos best. Meet their needs they best way you can.

  • Tuck away gems from PD for when the timing is right. Maybe they’ll get bored one day and you can be like, “ah-ha” and pull out that gem.

Teach & Trust like you know God’s words stands forever. Keep it close to you. Do your best to follow your supervisors direction, but keep the above points in mind. And keep God’s manual close by!

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” ~Isaiah 40:8
